Expecting GOOD NEWS!<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

What does it mean when you say, “I received good news?”<\/span><\/p>\n

What does “good news” mean to you?<\/span><\/p>\n

I am curious about how YOU receive good news.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For me, good news usually comes in one of three ways.<\/span><\/p>\n

First:<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n

My rural mailbox is at 104 River Road, Ellwood City, PA.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ours is a traditional black metal mailbox that stands beside our neighbor’s silver metal mailbox. The long-time neighbors live across the road from our garage. That’s where my River Road Studio is on the second floor. <\/span><\/p>\n

Four houses are across the street, and our house and garage are the only buildings on this side of the road. It’s like a tiny village here at our end of the road.We live in the Village of Wurtemburg in western Pennsylvania.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

I walk across our porch, down the four stairs, and onto the sidewalk, passing beside our\u00a0<\/span>Prayer Garden<\/span><\/em>\u00a0on my right and the yard and flower gardens on the left. Finally, I climb a concrete ramp that takes me to the driveway. I will cross over River Road and get the daily mail from there.<\/span><\/p>\n

I’ve often heard people say,<\/span><\/h4>\n

“<\/span>Some day my ship will come in.<\/span><\/em>“<\/span><\/h4>\n

I think about that comment and ask,<\/span><\/p>\n

“Well, how many ships have you set out?”<\/span><\/p>\n

That will determine how many ships you have coming back to you. My mailbox is where my boats arrive, and every time I reach inside to gather the mail, I anticipate that perhaps today, one of my ships will be in the mailbox.<\/span><\/p>\n

Good news arrives in my mailbox through invitations, checks, announcements, and a sweet letter from a friend or colleague. Of course, I don’t live near the ocean or a large lake, but my ships still arrive in my mailbox.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/h4>\n

Second<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n

My e-mail messages are another place where my ships come in. In the daily e-mail, I receive messages that invite me to submit my writing or art for special events.<\/span><\/p>\n

I receive updates regularly on happenings in my world.<\/span><\/p>\n

I get notices of book sales when people purchase my books.<\/span><\/p>\n

I notice that my artwork has been accepted for a juried show, and I am informed when the work must be delivered, the opening and closing dates for the exhibition, and announcements for other events at the gallery.<\/span><\/p>\n

I get personal messages from friends, family, and businesses.<\/span><\/p>\n

Invitations arrive in e-mail messages. The good news about family events, community news, and many other notices.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Just last night, I received this notice :<\/span><\/p>\n

Hi Lynda,<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We are well into the narration of your book. I hope it will be ready by early next year, if not sooner.<\/span><\/p>\n
