The Poem:<\/strong><\/h4>\n
Philosophy for a Cool Water Daydream<\/em><\/h5>\n

 <\/p>\n

In 1929\u00a0 our house \u00a0was built on dreams<\/p>\n

I invite you to visit my favorite place<\/p>\n

walk up the stairway<\/p>\n

turn left<\/p>\n

luminous\u00a0 light flows through<\/p>\n

stained-glass window<\/p>\n

spectrum of colors shimmering<\/p>\n

red \u2013 blue \u2013 crystal \u2013 green<\/p>\n

shifting translucent planes<\/p>\n

light scent of Eucalyptus<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

rustic white shelves display<\/p>\n

remembrances of ancestors<\/p>\n

Aunt Bettie\u2019s silent round silver powder<\/p>\n

music box wound too tight<\/p>\n

Mom\u2019s vintage powder compact<\/p>\n

one of her treasures<\/p>\n

empty aqua blue glass bottles<\/p>\n

my favorite Cool Water perfume<\/p>\n

my tiny marble pot of Patchouli oil.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now, the \u00a0main attraction takes the lead<\/p>\n

curvaceous porcelain-clad bath tup<\/p>\n

highlight \u00a0on four clawed feet<\/p>\n

relaxing \u2013 dreaming \u2013 praying<\/p>\n

private\u00a0 prayers\u00a0 of comfort and healing<\/p>\n

are spoken\u00a0\u00a0 aloud<\/p>\n

beneath the gentle abstract<\/p>\n

acrylic painting on canvas<\/p>\n

double framed \u00a0in pink and mauve<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Plastered\u00a0 terracotta walls<\/p>\n

ceiling of soft willow green<\/p>\n

our favorite Puerto Rico hues<\/p>\n

radiant tropical yellow \u00a0doors<\/p>\n

greenish blue \u00a0towels give comfort<\/p>\n

water streams \u00a0over my bare feet<\/p>\n

Cool Water on a hot summer day<\/p>\n

gushing from the age-worn \u00a0faucet<\/p>\n

swirling soap bubbles soothe the soul<\/p>\n

my philosophy for \u00a0a cool water daydream<\/p>\n

Story Behind the Poem:<\/strong><\/h4>\n

I received the July Prompt for my little group of poets.\u00a0 We are called The Carousel Poets. Six of us took a workshop together one year ago. When the 4-week workshop ended, we decided we would continue working together and challenging ourselves once a month with a prompt for an assignment.<\/p>\n

The Prompt:\u00a0 Write a poem that describes a room in your home, without naming that room in the poem.<\/p>\n

Or, if you prefer, write about an object in your home, without naming the object in the poem.<\/p>\n
