WAKE-UP CALL<\/em>
\nBY LYNDA MCKINNEY LAMBERT<\/p>\n

Gentle movements
\nresting on my shoulder
\ntender strokes
\ninsistent caresses
\nsecretly urge me to wake up.<\/p>\n

Early morning wake-up call
\nbegins in velvety darkness.
\nsensations of soft- feathered
\nwing.<\/p>\n

My entire body is erect
\nfeels mellifluous pulses
\nmuscles throbbing gently.<\/p>\n

Like a Passeri bird
\nperched amid tangled branches.
\nI flutter.
\nStretch my feet deeper
\nInto a comforting quilt.<\/p>\n

Instinctively, I know
\nlike the nesting songbird,
\nclutching White Lilac branch
\nit’s time to wake up.<\/p>\n

I reach out, grasp layers
\nof floral-patterned aqua
\npercale sheets and
\nwhite woven cotton blanket.<\/p>\n

My bird-like fingers grasp
\nsilky ribbon binding
\nbeneath willow-green plaid
\nseersucker bedspread.<\/p>\n

My cousin made this
\nhand-stitched quilt.
\nYears ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor your birthday,
\nI made this quilt
\nin your favorite colors
\nshades of orange,
\ndesigned by Kaffe Fasset.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lynda’s Bio:<\/p>\n

Lynda McKinney Lambert is an award-winning artist, teacher, and author. During her years as a tenured professor at Geneva College, she taught studio art, English literature, and lectured in art history. Lynda created a travel\/study month-long course, \u201cDrawing and Writing in Salzburg\u201d that she taught each summer in Austria, Germany, Italy, and Czech Republic until her retirement in 2008.<\/p>\n

Her first public art exhibit was in 1976. Her art is in private and public collections. Lynda’s publishing career began in 1980. She currently has five published books available at Amazon and other booksellers.<\/p>\n

She loves tending her flower garden, walking her dog, Miss Mitchell, caring for her SEVEN cats, and being with husband, Bob, who was her high-school sweetheart.The couple have been married for sixty-two years. Lynda and Bob have five children, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
