Garden Song – Mossy Rocks Garden — 5 Comments

  1. Suzanne, thank you so much for the feedback on my post. I love hearing about your garden and it sounds so nice. Succulents are my favorite plants – I have enjoyed working in rock gardens my entire adult life.

Robbie, my daughter made theme for me and they must be brought into the house during the cold months. They will come in before the frost hits the area – and they wait out the bad weather in my basement. Thanks for your comment.

  2. A great idea for a small shaded piece of garden. The art work made by your daughter is just lovely.

    • Robbie, its fun to see a little spot that is kind of a nothing space – and then to make it something beautiful instead. It is not hard to do and can be done in a small amount of time and does not need to have expensive plants in it. The more simple it is – the better!

  3. Lynda,
I appreciated your practical tips and link for suggested rock garden plants, as well as your lovely photos of your rock garden. I enjoyed the art work (snail and frog) of Ilsa. I, too, have a rock garden, but I think it gets too much sun to ever become a mossy rock garden. My rock garden hosts many sculptures, as well as a bird feeder and wind chimes. Right now, it is filled with California poppies, cosmos, and Alyssum. I’ll need to consider planting some succulents. Thank you for sharing.

    • You are so welcome, Suzanne.
I had no idea this area would eventually have moss growing on the rocks. What an exciting moment when I began to see that beautiful green moss forming. It gets thicker and greener every year – so intense that it seems like it could not be real. But, yes, it is real!
